6/13/19 - Mt. Pleasant, SC
The F150 is still not fixed. We drove back into Charleston and toured Ft.
Sumter National Historic Site. Then we
went to the waterfront and toured the USS Yorktown CV-10, an aircraft carrier,
the USS Laffey DD-724, a destroyer, and the USS Clamagore SS-343, a Balao-class
submarine. The Ford dealer called and
said we could pick up the F-150 and return the rental. On the way back to the Casita we stopped at
Charles Towne Fermentory and Holy City Baker & Brewer where we had pizza
for supper. There was a beautiful sunset tonight.
6/14/19 - Sunset Beach, NC
We got a campsite at Brunswick Beaches Camping
Resort, an old KOA. We went to the
Atlantic Ocean and enjoyed the beach for a while and then went to Makai Brewing in Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

Today we drove to Moores Creek National
Battlefield. The Moores Creek Bridge was the site of a key victory by North Carolina patriots over the British loyalists in 1776.. Shortly after this battle North Carolina declared independence from Britain. After walking the battlefield we drove to Wilmington, NC.
We went to Ironclad Brewing, New Anthem Beer Project, Front Street
Brewing and Wilmington Brewing. We
passed the Untappd offices in downtown Wilmington. Untappd is an app for logging and rating beer which we use to track the beers we have had.
6/16/19 - New Port, NC
After getting a site at Goose Creek RV Resort,
we drove to Emerald Island. We stopped
at Salter Path Beach Access and walked on the Beach.. Then we went to Crystal
Coast Brewing in Atlantic Beach, Fish Towne Brewing, and Mill Whistle Brewing
in Beaufort.
6/17/19 - New Port, NC
Today we drove to Harkers Island and took the
ferry across to Cape Lookout National Seashore. We went to Cape Lookout Lighthouse. Then we took a truck ride to
the beach. There was no shade and the sun was pretty hot. Jim and I picked up a lot of
large shells. They were easy to find
because the tide was going out. We
didn’t get too far into the water -- there have been lots of shark incidents
near here recently. After taking the ferry back we went to Shortway
Brewing before going back to the Casita.
6/18/19 - Avon, NC
We left New Port got a site at Sands of Time
Campground in Avon, NC. We drove along
Cape Hatteras National Seashore and stopped at Bodie Island Lighthouse and Cape
Hatteras Lighthouse. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is probably the most iconic lighthouse in America.
6/19/19 - Avon, NC
We stopped at a cemetery at the beach today in
Salvo on the way to the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills
(Kitty Hawk). This is the site of the
first airplane flight in 1903. Then we went to Outer Banks Brewing in Kill
Devil Hills and Lost Colony Brewing in Manteo.
The last stop today was at Ft. Raleigh National Historic Site. This was the location of the Roanoke Colony, the first English settlement in the U.S. in 1587.
